born in Hannover (Germany) in 1981, trained as a singer and pianist. After finishing A-levels at Eton College, he studied musicology at the University of Oxford, where he was a Choral Scholar at Magdalen College.

Internships at the London Symphony Orchestra, the British Institute of Florence, at Lucerne Festival and the concert management agency KD Schmid. Various stage directing assistantships, including for Peter Konwitschnys staging of Luigi Nonos Al gran sole carico d’amore (2004, Hannover and 2009, Leipzig). During the 2005/06 season dramaturgy assistant and production manager of the zeitoper series for experimental, contemporary music theatre at Hannover State Opera.

Scholarships from the Academy Music Theatre Today of the Deutsche Bank Foundation (2004-06), the Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation (2006), the Byrd Hoffman Watermill Foundation of Robert Wilson (summer programme, New York 2008) and the Salzburg Festival (Roche Continents, 2009).

2006-2009 graduate programme „Executive Master in Arts Administration“ at the University of Zurich (Switzerland). As part of this course, Pavel Jiracek visited lectures and seminars at the University of California, Berkeley and completed a one year business internship at IBM Switzerland in Zurich. Final thesis: „Rethinking the opera studio. Spaces for new music theatre within opera institutions“ (supervisor: Prof. Dr. Anselm Gerhard, Bern).

From 2012-2015, Pavel B. Jiracek worked as a dramaturg at the Komische Oper Berlin. He currently works as a dramaturg at Theater Basel (general management: Andreas Beck).
